The 60% formula behind EUR 915

The Minimum Wage Act has the government set the rate each year, effective January 1. If the social partners fail to agree, the law fixes it automatically as a share of the average nominal monthly wage from two years earlier. The 2026 figure fits that rule: EUR 915 is 60% of the 2024 average wage of about EUR 1,524, rounded up. The rate applies nationwide and is paid pro rata for shorter hours.

Higher floors for harder jobs

The EUR 915 is the bottom of the ladder. Slovakia also sets minimum wage claims (minimálne mzdové nároky) for six levels of job difficulty, and roles above the first level must be paid at least their level's figure. Those amounts are not in our sources, so classify the role before you set pay. Typical pay is on the Slovakia average salary page.

The yearly figure and recent rises

A year at the 2026 rate is EUR 915 x 12 = EUR 10,980, about $12,356. The minimum has risen from EUR 646 in 2022 to EUR 915, up 41.6%, with 12.1% in 2026 alone. The 2027 rate had not been confirmed when we checked.

Employer insurance at the minimum wage

The employer pays 25.2% social insurance (pension 14%, reserve fund 4.75%, disability 3%, sickness 1.4%, unemployment 1%, accident 0.8%, guarantee 0.25%) and 11% health insurance. Social insurance is capped at a base of EUR 16,764 a month, except accident insurance.

At EUR 915: 915 x 36.2% = EUR 331.23, for a monthly cost of EUR 1,246.23, about $1,402.

Hiring in Slovakia through an EOR

The EOR fee is the other big line: $99 to $699 a month per employee at list price, from the starting rate at Native Teams (its help center says EUR 99) to Oyster's, checked October 16 and 18, 2026. Deel's $599 is about 43% of the $1,402 monthly cost of a minimum-wage hire. Slovakia's 36.2% is one of the higher rates in the cost index, so use the calculator on the real salary, then pick from our EOR scores and read the Slovak hiring guide.
