How we make money
HRPricing earns a commission from some providers when you sign up, book a sales call or buy through a link on our site. Commissions never change our scores, our rankings or the order of our lists.

Which links can earn us a commission
Provider buttons (such as "See Gusto pricing" or "Get a quote") can earn us money, but only when we have an agreement with that provider. Agreements are either with the provider directly or through an affiliate network such as Impact, PartnerStack or CJ.
Depending on the program, we may be paid:
- a flat fee when a new customer signs up or runs its first payroll,
- a fee when the provider's sales team qualifies a referral or demo, or
- a share of what the customer pays the provider for a set period, such as the first year.
Which providers we have agreements with changes as programs approve or end them.
Links that earn us nothing
Where we have no agreement, the button still goes to the provider's official site, and we earn nothing if you sign up. Some providers we compare have no affiliate program at all. They are scored, ranked and described with the same rules as everyone else.
How to tell
- Every page with provider buttons shows a short note near the top saying we may earn a commission, with a link to this page.
- Provider buttons that can earn us a commission are marked rel="sponsored" in the page code, as Google asks. Buttons where we have no agreement, and the source links on our pages, are marked nofollow.
- Every provider button says which site it opens, such as "on Gusto's site."
What commissions never change
- A provider's score or position in a list. Our scoring method lists every criterion, and commissions are not one of them.
- Which providers we include. We cover providers that pay us nothing.
- What we say about prices, fees, contracts and complaints.
Our editorial policy covers how we stay independent of providers.
No paid placements and no coupon deals
- No provider can pay for a spot, a badge, a higher position or a higher score. If we ever sell a placement, it will be labeled as paid where it appears.
- We do not run coupon or promo-code deals and do not take payment for exclusive discounts. When a provider runs a public promotion, we may mention it with the date we saw it. Promotions never change a score.
What it costs you
Nothing from us. We add no fee, and the price you pay is set by the provider. Any contract you sign is between you and the provider.
