Poland's minimum wage is PLN 4,806 a month gross for full-time employees from January 1, 2026, set by Council of Ministers regulation of September 11, 2025, with a separate floor of PLN 31.40 an hour for civil-law contracts (Zielona Linia, gov.pl, checked October 18, 2026). That is about $1,238 a month at the European Central Bank cross rate for October 16, 2026, and the 2027 figures are already fixed at PLN 4,950 a month and PLN 32.30 an hour (Dz.U. 2026 poz. 1213). Employer social contributions add about 20.48%, PLN 984.27 a month at the 2026 minimum, using rates from a secondary 2026 table because ZUS's own pages could not be read.

Poland's minimum wage (wynagrodzenie minimalne) is the lowest gross monthly pay for a full-time employee on an employment contract, with a parallel hourly minimum for civil-law contracts.

Two minimums: employment contracts and civil-law contracts

The PLN 4,806 monthly figure applies to staff on an employment contract (umowa o pracę) working full time; part-timers get it in proportion to their hours. Poland also protects people on civil-law contracts, such as mandate contracts (umowa zlecenia) and service contracts, with a minimum of PLN 31.40 for each hour worked. That hourly figure is not a conversion of the monthly rate and does not apply to employees. Moving someone to a civil-law contract does not remove the floor: the hourly minimum still binds.

How the annual adjustment works

Under the Act of October 10, 2002 on the minimum wage, the government proposes next year's rate, negotiates it in the Social Dialogue Council with unions and employers, and the Council of Ministers sets it by regulation by September 15. When forecast inflation is high, the law provides for two increases in one year, on January 1 and July 1. That happened in 2023 (PLN 3,490, then PLN 3,600) and 2024 (PLN 4,242, then PLN 4,300).

Since then the steps have been smaller and once a year: PLN 4,666 in 2025, PLN 4,806 in 2026 (3.0% higher) and PLN 4,950 in 2027 (another 3.0%). From PLN 3,010 in 2022 to PLN 4,806 in 2026 the minimum rose 59.67%, so salary bands set a few years ago are worth rechecking.

Employer contributions on PLN 4,806

The employer pays pension insurance 9.76%, disability insurance 6.50%, accident insurance at a rate between 0.67% and 3.33% (1.67% standard), the Labor Fund 2.45% (which includes the Solidarity Fund) and the Guaranteed Employee Benefits Fund 0.10%: 20.48% in total with the standard accident rate. These rates come from a 2026 table on poradnikprzedsiebiorcy.pl, a secondary source, because zus.pl could not be read.

  • Monthly: 4,806 x 20.48% = PLN 984.27 (about $253).
  • Annual: 4,806 x 12 = PLN 57,672 in pay, plus PLN 11,811.23 in contributions.

Pension and disability contributions stop only once annual pay reaches PLN 282,600 (podatki.biz, citing the ministry notice in M.P. 2025 poz. 1206), so they apply in full at the minimum. Higher pay levels are covered on the Poland average salary page.
