What the OECD figure does and does not show

We used the OECD series because the STATEC wage tables were not read for this page. It is a mean per full-time equivalent employee, so part-time staff count as fractions and high earners pull the figure up; the median is lower. Many employees are cross-border commuters.

Growth has been quick. Starting from EUR 71,773.88 (2021), the series passed EUR 74,473.39, EUR 80,190.53 and EUR 83,294.01 before reaching the 2025 level, a 19.8% gain over four years. Luxembourg also indexes wages, as the June 2026 minimum wage tranche shows. No regional or industry split is in the series.

The indexed minimum wage

An index tranche lifted the social minimum wage for unskilled adults (18 and over) to EUR 2,771.33 a month on June 1, 2026, according to Guichet.lu and the Joint Social Security Center (CCSS). Before that, EUR 2,703.74 had been in force since May 1, 2025. Skilled workers are owed 20% more, EUR 3,325.59. A year at the unskilled rate, EUR 33,255.96, is 38.7% of the OECD average. The Luxembourg minimum wage page has the hourly rates.

Employer contributions at EUR 7,168 a month

CCSS publishes the 2026 total rates but not the employer and employee split, so the split here is ours, using the standard half-each share for pension and health. On that basis the employer share at the lowest employers' mutual class is 12.57%: pension 8.5%, health 2.8% plus 0.25%, accident 0.65%, occupational health 0.14% and mutual insurance 0.23%. The mutual rate rises with your absenteeism class, to 2.66% in class 4, which takes the total to 15.00%. The contribution ceiling, five times the unskilled minimum or EUR 13,856.63 monthly since June 1, 2026, is nearly double average pay, so the whole salary is charged.

On the OECD average, a class 1 employer owes EUR 10,812.30 a year and a class 4 employer EUR 12,902.50. Add the salary and the yearly bill lands between EUR 96,828.97 and EUR 98,919.17. Compare other pay levels in the international employee cost calculator.

Hiring in Luxembourg through an EOR

The list-price spread is $99 (Native Teams, whose help center says EUR 99) to $699 (Oyster) a month, as read on October 16, 2026. Deel's $599 a month, $7,188 a year, is small next to a salary of this size, so judge providers on how they handle cross-border tax and social security for commuters.
