Vietnam's top minimum wage is VND 5,310,000 a month in Region I from January 1, 2026, under Decree 293/2025/ND-CP, falling to VND 3,700,000 in Region IV. That is about $143 to $205 at the US Treasury rate of September 30, 2026 (VND 25,959 per dollar). Employer contributions add about 23.5%, so a Region I worker costs about VND 6,557,850 a month.

Which region applies
The government sets the rates on the National Wage Council's advice. Region I covers urban Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and similar areas. The rate follows the workplace, not the head office, and the 2025 province mergers redrew the map, so check the decree's annex for your hire's commune. Each region has a monthly rate and an hourly one; Region I's is VND 25,500 an hour, about $0.98.

A year in Region I is VND 63,720,000 (12 x 5,310,000), about $2,455; in Region IV it is VND 44,400,000. The 2026 rates are about 7% above 2025, and we had seen no 2027 decree on October 18, 2026. There is no statutory 13th month, though a Tet bonus is customary.
Insurance on a minimum-wage salary
Our research puts the employer share at 23.5% of insurable salary (21.5% insurance plus a 2% union fee), from secondary sources not yet checked against a government page.
