Egypt's private-sector minimum wage is EGP 7,000 a month, in force since March 1, 2025 under a National Wages Council decision of February 9, 2025, with no 2026 increase announced as of October 18, 2026. That is about $135 a month at the US Treasury rate of September 30, 2026 (EGP 51.89 per dollar). The same decision sets a yearly raise of at least 3% of the insurance wage, never under EGP 250 a month.

Egypt's minimum wage for the private sector is a monthly floor fixed by the National Wages Council, chaired by the minister of planning.

Who it covers

The council's rate covers private-sector workers; government staff have a separate minimum set through the budget, not covered here. The February 2025 decision raised the floor from EGP 6,000, about 16.7%, and states one monthly amount with no regional variants.

The year, and the annual raise

Twelve months at EGP 7,000 make EGP 84,000, about $1,619. The periodic raise (alawa dawriya) is a separate duty: at least 3% of the insurance subscription wage, with a floor of EGP 250 a month. On an insurance wage of EGP 7,000, 3% is only EGP 210, so the EGP 250 floor sets the raise. Budget for it even when the minimum does not move.

Employer costs we could not verify

Social insurance runs under Law 148 of 2019, but we could not read the 2026 employer rate or the insurable wage cap on an official page, so we show no on-cost percentage. Get those figures in writing from your provider. Our Egypt EOR guide tracks what is verified.

Hiring in Egypt through an EOR

An employer of record lets you hire without an Egyptian company. Fees run from $99 a month (Native Teams; its help center says EUR 99) to $699 (Oyster), checked October 2026. Deel's $599 is about EGP 31,082, roughly 4.4 times the minimum. Compare EOR prices and the employer cost index.
