Gross, net, mean and median in the DZS data
DZS reports both gross (bruto) and net (neto) pay, and the gap between them is what the employee pays in contributions and income tax. Its EUR 2,010 is a mean for the first eleven months of 2025; the full-year release had not been read when we checked. The figure covers employees of legal entities of every ownership type but leaves out crafts, free professions and insured farmers.
The median is the better guide to a typical paycheck. In November 2025 alone, the mean gross was EUR 2,093 while the median gross was EUR 1,744, and the median net was EUR 1,278. A separate check: the government's 2026 contribution-base order uses an average gross wage of EUR 1,993 for January to August 2025.
