Gross, net and the median
Serbia reports both sides of the payslip. In 2025 net pay was 72.5% of gross, the rest going to income tax and employee contributions. Both figures are means across January to December.
The median is lower: RSD 90,819 net for December 2025, the only median given for that period. The latest month is July 2026, when gross pay averaged RSD 167,402, net RSD 121,346 and the median net RSD 95,036 (release of September 25, 2026).
Belgrade, ICT and a net figure for tech roles
Regional and industry levels are only published for December, a month inflated by year-end bonuses, so treat them as a ranking rather than a typical month. In December 2025 gross pay was RSD 212,852 in Belgrade, RSD 161,547 in Vojvodina, RSD 145,173 in Southern and Eastern Serbia and RSD 143,507 in Sumadija and Western Serbia.
For anyone pricing a cloud engineer or developer: the Statistical Office does not publish pay by job title, and we do not invent it. The closest official number is information and communication, at RSD 360,924 gross in December 2025, 2.4 times the 2025 national average. Financial and insurance activities paid RSD 241,929 and accommodation and food RSD 105,173. No net figure by sector is given.
The hourly minimum
Serbia sets its minimum wage as a net hourly amount: RSD 371 an hour for 2026, up from RSD 337, under a government decision reported by N1 and biznis.rs, both news sources (we did not read the Official Gazette text). A 160-hour month at that rate is RSD 59,360 net. The Serbian minimum wage page has the history.
Employer contributions on an average salary
The employer pays 10% pension and disability insurance (PIO) and 5.15% health insurance, 15.15% in total; unemployment insurance is employee only. The totals are confirmed by the PIO Fund, the split by a secondary source. In 2026 the monthly contribution base runs from RSD 51,297 to RSD 732,820.
