What the GGMMI is and how compliance is measured

Belgium's national minimum comes from the social partners, who agree it in the National Labor Council, starting with collective agreement no. 43, and it follows the automatic wage indexation. It covers private-sector employees. Above it sit the sector scales of the joint committees (commissions paritaires), which often set higher minimums, so the joint committee that covers your employee decides the real floor.

The test is on total pay, not the base salary alone. According to GrenzInfoPunkt (a secondary source), year-end or 13th-month bonuses count toward the GGMMI for contracts of one month or longer. We did not check youth or student rates, so none are listed here.

From EUR 1,658 in 2022 to EUR 2,234 in 2026

Eurostat publishes the Belgian rate twice a year, rounded to whole euros. It was EUR 1,658 in the first half of 2022 and EUR 1,842 in the second half, then held at EUR 1,955 through 2023. It reached EUR 1,994 and EUR 2,070 in 2024, EUR 2,112 from the second half of 2025, and EUR 2,234 in the second half of 2026. That last step was 5.78%, and the total rise since early 2022 is 34.74%.

Watch for stale figures. The EU's own EURES portal, in a page dated July 3, 2026, still showed the July 2024 rate of EUR 2,070.48 when we checked. No next change had been announced on the pages we read.

Employer contributions at the minimum

The basic private-sector contribution is 24.92% with no ceiling. On top come a wage moderation contribution of 5.67% of pay plus 5.67% of employer contributions (4.27% for structural-reduction categories 1 and 3), and a 0.40% supplement for workers under the annual holidays law. Structural reductions of employer contributions may lower the bill for low-paid staff; we have not confirmed how they apply in 2026, so the table shows the basic rate only.

Notice rules that changed in 2026

Belgium abolished probation clauses for contracts from January 1, 2014, so notice applies from the start. From August 1, 2026, notice is one week for the whole first six months; GrenzInfoPunkt (secondary) says this applies to contracts starting on or after that date. From June 1, 2026, notice is capped at 52 weeks once seniority reaches 17 years. Between those points it rises by seniority, from 3 weeks at three months to 18 weeks at five years and 3 more weeks a year after that.

Paying the Belgian minimum through an EOR

An employer of record registers with ONSS, applies the right joint committee scale and the year-end bonus rules, and runs indexation. Published list prices run from $99 (Native Teams, whose help center says EUR 99) to $699 (Oyster) per employee per month (EOR prices compared); Deel lists $599 (checked October 16 and 18, 2026).
