Personio pricing and company review: plans and contract terms

We may earn a commission when you sign up through some links on this page. Commissions never change our scores or the order of our lists. How we make money.

Personio does not publish prices: its pricing page names two plans, Core and CorePro, and asks you to book a demo for a quote, and it adds "a one-time fee dependent on your company size" for setup (checked October 18, 2026). What Personio does publish is its contract: annual plans renew unless you give 90 days' written notice, monthly plans need 15 days, and renewal increases are capped at 5%.

Personio scores 42 out of 100 on our HR software scale. It is built for European companies; US payroll is not confirmed on the pages we read.

Personio is HR software from Personio SE & Co. KG of Munich, Germany for companies of 10 to 10,000 employees (its stated range), covering employee records, time tracking, workflows and preliminary payroll, with recruiting, performance and other apps sold on top, priced by quote.

Budgeting and planning features

Planning tools sit in CorePro, not Core. CorePro adds position management and workforce planning, unlimited legal entities and API access, which a company with several subsidiaries or a finance team planning headcount will need. Compensation management is a separate add-on. If headcount planning is why you are looking, ask for CorePro and the Compensation app priced together, and compare with HiBob's Planning and Compensation modules, which are also quote only.

What that means: an annual plan renewing April 1, 2027 needs written notice by January 1, 2027, or it runs another year. On a $10,000 annual contract, the 5% cap allows up to $500 more at renewal. Taxes are extra. Few HR vendors publish this much: HiBob and BambooHR publish no notice periods on the pages we checked (BambooHR offers "flexible month-to-month terms or an extended term").

What to ask Personio before you sign

  1. What is the per-employee price for Core and CorePro, monthly and annual?
  2. What is the one-time setup fee for our headcount?
  3. Can you run US payroll and tax filing, or only preliminary payroll that feeds another provider?
  4. Which Personio entity signs for a US customer, and under which law?
  5. Where is our data stored, and is US hosting available?
  6. Who provides the Employer of Record app, and at what monthly price per employee?
  7. How do we export records and documents when we leave?

Personio reviews

Personio has 4.4 out of 5 from 1,060 reviews on G2 and 4.3 from 358 on Trustpilot (October 18, 2026). Recurring complaints: reporting is limited next to peers, payroll support can be slow and some saw data errors after migrating, the recruiting module lags as companies grow, and support quality scores below the category average on G2.

Who Personio fits

What works

  • Monthly plans with 15 days' notice
  • 5% cap on renewal increases
  • Planning tools and unlimited entities in CorePro

Watch out for

  • No prices and a setup fee by size
  • 90 days' notice on annual plans
  • German-law contract, data in Europe
  • US payroll not confirmed

Bottom line: Personio suits a European company, or a US company with most staff in Europe. A US-only employer that needs payroll and taxes filed should start with US providers on the HR software hub.
