WorkMotion's employer of record (EOR) service starts at $549 per talent per month (€499, £399 or CHF459), according to its pricing page (checked October 18, 2026). Contractor management starts at $31 a month and Direct Hiring at $429.

WorkMotion publishes its full terms, which most rivals do not. They set a deposit sized to the employee's notice period, a minimum of three monthly fees per hire, and three months' notice to leave.

WorkMotion is a Berlin-based employer of record that hires workers in 160+ countries for client companies, and also pays contractors and offers Direct Hiring for companies that register as employers abroad.

WorkMotion

WorkMotion prices every plan in dollars, euros, pounds and Swiss francs, and its terms spell out the deposit, the minimum fees and the exit notice. The cost of that clarity is a long exit: three months' notice, fees until the employee's notice ends, and an FX margin it does not disclose.

All four are starting prices. All-in cost for one employee

WorkMotion's deposit depends on the employee's notice period and total monthly cost of employment, so the cleanest example is a UK hire priced in pounds. We use the official 2026 employer costs from our UK employer cost page.

We read cost of employment as salary plus employer costs; if WorkMotion counts its fee too, the deposit is higher.

With a one-month notice clause, year one costs GBP 39,250.80 in salary, employer costs and fees (30,000 + 4,462.80 + 4,788), plus GBP 3,000 held as a deposit and whatever severance accrual WorkMotion bills. If the hire ends in the first month, you still owe three monthly fees: GBP 1,197. Compare employer costs in other countries in the EOR employer cost index.

Deposit, FX and exit terms

Deposit and severance accrual

Section 5.1 of the EOR terms requires "a refundable deposit per Talent": the notice-period months times the total monthly cost of employment, or an amount set by risk assessment, rounded up to the nearest 500 in the invoice currency. It comes back "without undue delay" once everything is settled, with no fixed day count. Section 6.1 adds a monthly severance accrual per talent on top.

FX

Section 7.11 converts at an exchange rate "plus an internal FX margin determined by WorkMotion at its reasonable discretion". The margin is not disclosed. You also pay bank and international transfer costs.

Minimum fees and notice

Each talent carries a minimum of three monthly service fees, and fees keep running until the end of that talent's notice period. The agreement runs indefinitely with no auto-renewal clause, and either side ends it on three months' notice, effective at the end of a calendar month. You pay all costs WorkMotion or its partner incurs in ending the services.

Billing

A payroll funding invoice arrives around the first of the month and a settlement invoice at month end, each due within 10 days. Late payment can bring interest and a flat late fee. WorkMotion can adjust Fee Schedule items on notice. German law and Berlin courts apply.

Give notice a full quarter before you want to leave WorkMotion, and ask for the Fee Schedule and the FX margin in writing before you sign.

Entity model and coverage

WorkMotion says it hires in 160+ countries, that it "owns legal entities around the world" and that "We don't rely on third parties". It gives no entity count. Its EOR terms describe talent "employed by a Partner" and termination costs incurred by "WorkMotion and/or Partner", which sits uneasily with the homepage. Ask which entity will sign your employee's contract in your country. Our guide to how an EOR works explains why that matters when a dispute comes up.

WorkMotion shows an ISO/IEC 27001 badge and says it holds IEC Gold certification. SOC 2 is not stated. Swiss hiring runs through a separate WorkMotion Switzerland site.

Reviews and complaints

WorkMotion holds 4.8 out of 5 from 394 reviews on Trustpilot (83% five-star) and 4.6 from 514 on G2, both seen October 18, 2026. The negative reviews, mostly on G2, repeat a few points:

  • Support speed: slow replies, and expenses filed late in the month wait an extra month to be reimbursed.
  • Service: no single named contact and slow contract paperwork.
  • Price: seen as expensive for mid-sized companies.
  • Platform: a one-time login code every time and awkward navigation.

WorkMotion cut about 20% of its staff, roughly 60 people, in December 2022, citing slower customer hiring (Startbase).

What works

  • Full EOR terms published, including the deposit formula
  • Prices in USD, EUR, GBP and CHF
  • No auto-renewal clause
  • Trustpilot 4.8 from 394 reviews

Watch out for

  • Three months' notice to leave, three-fee minimum per hire
  • Undisclosed FX margin
  • Deposit can reach several months of employment cost
  • Terms mention partners despite the no-third-parties claim

Who WorkMotion fits, and who it does not

WorkMotion fits a European company, especially a German one, making long-term hires that wants to read every term before signing and pay in its own currency.

Look elsewhere if hires may be short or uncertain. A three-fee minimum, fees through the notice period and a quarter's exit notice add up fast. It also fits poorly if you need to know your FX cost up front.

How WorkMotion scores

WorkMotion scores 60/100 on our EOR method. It gains points for publishing a deposit formula and full terms, and loses them on the three-month exit notice, the undisclosed FX margin and thin published support details. For context, Multiplier scores 79 and Oyster 64. The rules are in how we score providers.

Our verdict

Bottom line: WorkMotion scores 60/100. At $549 it sits mid-market, and its public terms beat most rivals for clarity. Those terms also show the catch: plan on three months' notice, at least three fees per hire and a deposit sized to the notice period, and get the FX margin in writing.

Frequently asked questions

How much does WorkMotion cost?
WorkMotion EOR starts at $549 per talent per month (€499, £399 or CHF459). Direct Hiring starts at $429 and contractor management at $31 per contractor (WorkMotion pricing page, checked October 18, 2026). Deposits, a monthly severance accrual and an FX margin come on top.
Does WorkMotion charge a deposit?
Yes. WorkMotion's EOR terms (section 5.1) set a refundable deposit per talent equal to the notice-period months times the total monthly cost of employment, rounded up to the nearest 500 in the invoice currency, returned without undue delay once settled.
How do I cancel WorkMotion?
WorkMotion's agreement runs indefinitely with no auto-renewal and ends on three months' notice, effective at the end of a calendar month. Each talent carries a minimum of three monthly fees, and fees run until that talent's notice period ends (EOR terms sections 4.3 and 12.2).
Does WorkMotion own its entities?
WorkMotion's homepage says it owns legal entities and does not rely on third parties, in 160+ countries, but gives no count. Its EOR terms describe talent employed by a Partner, so ask which entity will employ your hire.
Is WorkMotion cheaper than Deel?
Yes on list price. WorkMotion EOR starts at $549 per talent per month against Deel's $599 (pricing pages, checked October 2026). WorkMotion's three-month exit notice and three-fee minimum can erase that gap for short hires.
What do WorkMotion reviews say?
