The average annual wage in Turkey was TRY 742,960.89 in 2024, the latest year in the OECD's average annual wages series for Türkiye, which measures gross pay per full-time-equivalent employee. That is about TRY 61,913 a month, or about $15,001 a year at the ECB cross rate of October 16, 2026 (TRY 49.5271 per dollar). We did not read TurkStat's own survey, so the OECD series is our basis.

Why the lira figure dates fast

The 2023 value was TRY 393,816.95, so the nominal average rose 88.7% in a year, much of it inflation. Inflation above 40% a year means a 2024 lira figure understates 2026 pay, and converting it at a 2026 exchange rate mixes two price levels. It is also a mean, above typical pay, with no Istanbul or industry split.

A current benchmark: the minimum wage

For 2026 lira, the gross minimum wage is TRY 33,030 a month from January 1 to December 31, one national rate, per the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (CSGB). After the employee's 14% social insurance and 1% unemployment insurance, take-home pay is TRY 28,075.50, since income tax and stamp duty are not charged on it. See the Turkish minimum wage page.

Employer premiums

Most employers pay 21.75% in 2026 (19.75% SGK after the 2-point incentive plus 2% unemployment insurance), 23.75% without the incentive and 18.75% in manufacturing with the 5-point incentive, per CSGB. On the 2024 average that is TRY 161,593.99 at 21.75% or TRY 176,453.21 at 23.75%, a total of up to TRY 919,414.10. At the minimum wage, CSGB puts the employer's monthly cost at TRY 40,214.03 with the 2-point incentive. Our Turkey EOR guide covers severance.

Adding an EOR fee
