The average gross salary per full-time equivalent employee in Greece was EUR 17,954 in 2024, according to Eurostat's national accounts series (nama_10_fte), the latest year published (checked October 18, 2026). Spread over 12 months that is EUR 1,496.17, and the annual figure is about $20,204 in dollars (ECB reference rate, October 16, 2026). Employer social insurance of about 21.79%, a rate from Deloitte (a secondary source) that we could not confirm with e-EFKA, adds EUR 3,912.18 a year on that salary, before any employer of record fee.

Which Greek average you are looking at
Two very different numbers circulate. Eurostat's EUR 17,954 is an annual mean from the national accounts: total gross wages and salaries divided by full-time equivalent employees, public sector included, before employee contributions. It has risen every year, from EUR 16,018 in 2021 to EUR 16,515, EUR 17,070 and then EUR 17,954 in 2024. The 2025 value had not been published when we checked.
The Ministry of Labor also cites the ERGANI 2025 report for an average private-sector wage of EUR 1,516 a month. The release we read does not say whether that is gross, how many payments a year it assumes or which workers it counts, so do not divide one by the other or treat them as the same series. Neither source gives a median, and we found no official split by region or industry.
Monthly pay, 14 payments and the minimum wage
The answer to "average monthly salary in Greece in EUR" depends on how many installments you assume. EUR 17,954 over 12 months is EUR 1,496.17. Greece defines its minimum wage for 14 payments a year: EUR 920 a month for salaried employees from April 1, 2026, paid 14 times, for EUR 12,880 a year. Manual workers have a daily minimum of EUR 41.09. We read these figures in the Ministry of Labor release as reproduced by Taxheaven, not on the ministry site or in the official gazette.
Eurostat restates the EUR 920 as EUR 1,073 on a 12-month basis, which matches. The minimum's annual total is 71.7% of the Eurostat average. The same release gives a goal of EUR 950 by 2027, with a formula from 2028; no 2027 rate has been set. See the Greek minimum wage page for the history.
Employer contributions on an average salary
A standard full-time salaried employee carries an e-EFKA employer contribution of about 21.79%, according to Deloitte's Greece Highlights 2026 (a secondary source; we did not confirm the branch split). Contributions stop at a monthly insurable ceiling of EUR 7,761.94 from January 1, 2026 (e-EFKA Circular 4/2026, read through a copy on forin.gr), far above average pay.
- Annual gross at the Eurostat average: EUR 17,954
- Employer e-EFKA at about 21.79% (Deloitte rate): EUR 3,912.18
- Total: EUR 21,866.18, about $24,606

Putting a Greek hire on payroll
If you have no Greek company, an employer of record registers the employee and runs e-EFKA contributions for you. The fee band on published price pages is $99 (Native Teams, whose help center says EUR 99) to $699 (Oyster) per employee per month, as of October 16, 2026. Remote lists EOR from $599 a month, which over a year is $7,188, about 29% of the $24,606 employer cost above, so the fee weighs heavily at Greek pay levels.
The Greece EOR guide covers probation and termination. Compare Italian salaries and Bulgarian salaries, and check provider prices in the EOR cost index.
