7shifts pricing and 7shifts Payroll: what is published and what is not
We may earn a commission when you sign up through some links on this page. Commissions never change our scores or the order of our lists. How we make money.
7shifts prices were not published in our research: its pricing page showed no plan prices when we checked on October 16, 2026, and 7shifts Payroll has no published price either, only a promo of "3 months of 7shifts Payroll free". Get a written quote before you compare it with apps that do publish prices.
7shifts is built for restaurants, cafes, bars and franchises, and documents tip pooling and labor compliance tools. It scores 21 out of 100 mainly because we could not read its prices or contract terms.

We score scheduling apps on published prices and terms, not on testing. When a vendor does not publish prices, it gets 0 of the 30 price points. The rules are on our scoring method page.
Why we do not list a 7shifts price
The 7shifts pricing page loaded without plan prices on October 16, 2026. Rather than guess, we show no figure. Our research notes say the page should be rechecked by hand, and we will update this page when we can read the prices.
A Homebase blog post on restaurant payroll lists 7shifts at "$39.99/location + $6". The post is undated and Homebase is a competitor, and we could not confirm the figure on 7shifts' own page, so we do not use it in any cost here.
When you ask 7shifts for a quote, get these in writing:
- Is scheduling priced per location, per user, or both?
- What does 7shifts Payroll cost per month and per employee after the 3 free months?
- Which plan includes tip pooling, the time clock and labor compliance tools?
- Is the contract monthly or annual, and what happens to the bill if headcount drops?
- How do you get W-2s and payroll records after you cancel?
What 10 or 20 restaurant staff cost elsewhere
| Option | Published price | 10 staff | 20 staff |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7shifts scheduling + 7shifts Payroll (21) | Not published in our research | Not published | Not published |
| Homebase scheduling + Homebase payroll (77) | $0 or $30 per location + $49 + $6 per employee paid | $0 + $49 + 10 x $6 = $109 | $30 + $49 + 20 x $6 = $199 |
| Deputy Core annual + Deputy Payroll (62) | $6.50 per user less 10% + $49 + $8 per user | $58.50 + $129 = $187.50 | $117 + $209 = $326 |
| Square Payroll only (no scheduling app) | $35 + $6 per person paid | $35 + 10 x $6 = $95 | $35 + 20 x $6 = $155 |
Source: Homebase, Deputy and Square pricing pages, checked October 16, 2026; 7shifts pricing page showed no prices the same day. Scheduling scores in brackets. Payroll taxes extra.
Use these as a yardstick for the 7shifts quote. If 7shifts comes back above Homebase's $109 for 10 staff with payroll, the extra should buy something you need, most likely tip pooling. For the full comparison of restaurant tools, see restaurant scheduling apps ranked and restaurant payroll software and tip credits.
7shifts Payroll
7shifts sells its own payroll as an add-on. The only published term is the promo: "3 months of 7shifts Payroll free". The base fee, per-employee fee, tax filing guarantee and which states it covers were not captured in our research. That is why it gets 8 of 15 payroll points: own payroll, price not published.
Payroll is where tipped wages get calculated, so check how 7shifts Payroll handles your state's tip credit. Under federal law the tipped cash wage is $2.13 an hour with a maximum tip credit of $5.12, and some states allow no tip credit at all (DOL table dated July 1, 2026). See 2026 minimum and tipped wages by state.
Tip pooling and labor compliance
Tip pooling and labor compliance tools are documented for 7shifts, which is the reason a restaurant would choose it. None of the other four scheduling apps we rank documents tip pooling on the pages we checked. What 7shifts' labor compliance covers (break rules, overtime alerts, predictive scheduling notices) is not detailed in our research, and we have not sourced those laws for this page.
A time clock, auto-scheduling and team messaging are not documented on the pages we checked, which is why 7shifts gets 10 of 25 feature points. That may reflect what we could read rather than what the product does, so ask in the demo.
Contract, cancellation and support
- Contract terms: not captured in our research.
- After you cancel: 7shifts has a help article on how W-2s are delivered to employees after account cancellation. We did not read it; it is listed in our sources.
- Support: Help Center and Contact Customer Support links; hours not published.
