Employer of record in Bangladesh: costs and rules

For a Bangladesh hire the firm number today is the EOR fee, listed in October 2026 between $199 a month (Payoneer Workforce Management, formerly Skuad) and $699 (Oyster), which on a $599 plan is BDT 887,358.60 a year at Bangladesh Bank's 123.45 taka per dollar; any statutory employer charge on top of salary is still unverified in our research. Earned leave is where US policies clash with local law: after a year of continuous service, section 117 of the Bangladesh Labor Act 2006 gives one day of paid leave for every 18 days worked, and unused days carry forward up to 40 or 60 days depending on the type of establishment.

An employer of record in Bangladesh is a Bangladeshi company that hires your worker under the Labor Act 2006, runs payroll in taka and handles the employer's legal duties, while you assign and manage the work.

Earned leave accrues by days worked

Section 117 of the Labor Act 2006 applies to shops, commercial and industrial establishments, factories and road transport. After one year of continuous service, a worker earns 1 day of paid leave per 18 days worked. Leave not taken accumulates up to 40 days in factories and road transport, and up to 60 days in shops and commercial or industrial establishments. Because unused days roll forward, an accrued balance can become a payout question when employment ends.

Employer contributions

It is commonly reported that Bangladesh has no general employer social security contribution for private employers, which would put the statutory on-cost near 0% of salary. Our research also flags a Workers' Participation and Welfare Fund, set at company level as a share of net profit for larger companies rather than as a payroll charge. We have not confirmed either point from an official source.

Beyond section 117, the official law site blocked our reader, so these remain unverified: employer contributions, festival bonuses, sector minimum wages (set by wage boards), holidays, casual and sick leave, trial periods, notice, termination pay, pay dates and hours. Get the provider's terms in the contract and compare them with the Labor Act text.

A year of $599 fees is $7,188, or BDT 887,358.60 at 123.45. On $399 plans that falls to $4,788; on Oyster's $699, $8,388. Deposits differ too: Oyster's terms ask for one month of total service cost or more, Playroll one month of salary. Ask whether the deposit is meant to cover a leave payout.

Should the employer side prove close to zero, as is commonly reported but unverified by us, provider choice will move your cost more than the law does. For complete country figures see the EOR cost index and the international hiring calculator.

Picking a provider for Bangladesh

Our rating table, out of 100, runs Multiplier 79, Oyster 64, Remote 62, Playroll 60, Pebl 57 and Deel 54 (how we score). None of them prices Bangladesh publicly. Ask whether it uses its own entity or a local partner, how it pays in taka and at what FX margin, and how it tracks earned leave under section 117. Further reading: our EOR ranking, plus provider write-ups for Deel, Remote and Oyster.

Bangladeshi contractors

Engaging a Bangladeshi freelancer sidesteps both the fee and section 117 accrual, until the work looks like a job: one client, your hours, your supervision. At that point it risks being treated as employment. Alternatives: contractor platforms or a contractor of record for project work.

A Bangladeshi entity instead

Fees of BDT 887,358.60 per hire per year are what a local company would replace, at the price of registration, a payroll process and direct Labor Act duties. Weigh it with our EOR versus entity guide and the EOR pricing page.
