Wyoming's state minimum wage is $5.15 an hour in 2026, but employers covered by the federal Fair Labor Standards Act must pay $7.25, the federal rate since July 24, 2009, so $7.25 is what most Wyoming jobs pay at the bottom. No 2027 change has been announced at either level and no Wyoming town sets its own rate in our research. A full-time worker at $7.25 costs you $16,275.62 a year before Wyoming unemployment tax, which adds $150.80 for each 1% of your rate.

When $5.15 applies and when it does not

Wyoming's own law still says $5.15, the same figure as Georgia's statute and among the lowest state rates in the country. The U.S. Department of Labor's table adds the line that matters: employers subject to the FLSA must pay $7.25. The FLSA reaches most businesses through enterprise coverage, and it also covers individual workers whose jobs involve interstate commerce, such as handling out-of-state orders, calls or payments. Only a job outside both kinds of coverage can legally pay $5.15.

If you are not sure, pay $7.25. Underpaying a covered worker means owing back wages under federal law, which costs more than the $2.10 an hour you saved.

Tips, overtime and young workers

  • Tipped staff: $2.13 an hour in cash with a $5.12 tip credit; tips must bring them to $7.25.
  • Overtime: 1.5 times the regular rate after 40 hours, $10.875 at $7.25.
  • Under 20: the federal $4.25 for the first 90 days of a job.

Wyoming's 2026 unemployment wage base is $33,800, so all of this worker's pay is taxable. A new employer's rate is its industry base rate plus four more rate factors, and the state pages we read did not publish the resulting figures, so use the rate on your DWS notice. Workers' compensation runs through a state fund at the Department of Workforce Services. It is required before work begins in industries classed as extra-hazardous; other businesses may opt in. Wyoming beside its neighbors

Utah and Idaho sit at $7.25. The other neighbors pay more: Montana $10.85 at larger businesses, South Dakota $11.85, Nebraska $15.00 at employers of 4 or more, and Colorado $15.16. Cheyenne employers recruit within commuting range of Fort Collins, where Colorado's higher rate applies. See all states on the 2026 minimum wage by state page.
