Large employers only

The survey covers establishments with 10 or more employees across the Republic of Mauritius. Large firms pay more than small ones, so MUR 46,229 overstates economy-wide pay, and the page does not say whether the figure is gross or net. It is a mean.

Export Oriented Enterprises (EOE) averaged MUR 33,990, up 13.1% from MUR 30,052. The release gives only percentage changes for other industries: information and communication rose 38.4% and human health and social work 28.2%. Rupee amounts by industry are in Excel tables we have not read.

The minimum wage we could confirm

The latest national minimum wage regulations we read set MUR 16,500 a month for full-time workers from January 1, 2024 (Government Notice 8 of 2024), with part-time workers paid pro rata and no separate EPZ rate. We could not confirm the 2026 amount on an official page, so check the Mauritius minimum wage page for updates before you set pay.

Employer contributions, and the MUR 50,000 line

The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) lists three employer charges:

• Contribution Sociale Généralisée (CSG): 3% if the monthly basic wage is up to MUR 50,000, 6% above it, on the whole wage
• National Savings Fund (NSF): 2.5% of basic wage up to MUR 29,710 a month from July 1, 2026
• Training Levy: 1.5% of basic wage, no ceiling

These charges are on basic wage, and the survey figure is total earnings, so treating MUR 46,229 as basic wage gives an upper estimate: CSG MUR 1,386.87, NSF MUR 742.75 and levy MUR 693.44, a total of MUR 2,823.06 a month or MUR 33,876.66 a year. Watch the threshold: a raise from MUR 49,999 to MUR 50,001 doubles the CSG rate on the entire wage, which adds roughly MUR 1,500 a month. CSG is also due on the prescribed end-of-year bonus. The Portable Retirement Gratuity Fund (PRGF) is excluded because its rate was not confirmed. The international cost calculator handles other salaries.

Hiring in Mauritius through an EOR

Our October 16, 2026 check of price pages found a monthly range of $99 (Native Teams, whose help center says EUR 99) to $699 (Oyster). Deel lists $599 a month, $7,188 a year, more than half of the dollar value of a year's average earnings. That makes the fee the biggest cost after salary.
