What COP 47,790,272 measures

The series counts dependent employees, formal and informal wage earners alike, on a full-time basis, and leaves out the self-employed. It is gross, before the employee's 8% for health and pension, and it is a mean, so a typical worker earns less. It rose 7.2% from COP 44,565,740 in 2023. There is no region or industry split, and we do not publish pay by job title.

Against the minimum wage

The 2026 minimum is COP 1,750,905 a month, under a decree the Consejo de Estado suspended in February 2026 and a transitional decree that kept the amount pending its ruling. The 2024 average month is about 2.27 times that 2026 floor, so an average earner is above the 2-SMMLV line and gets no transport allowance. Details are on the Colombian minimum wage page.
