Deel vs Rippling: EOR and US payroll compared
We may earn a commission when you sign up through some links on this page. Commissions never change our scores or the order of our lists. How we make money.
Deel publishes its prices: employer of record at $599 per employee per month, contractors at $49 and a US PEO at $125 per employee (Deel pricing page, checked October 16, 2026). Rippling publishes none for these products. The only Rippling EOR figure available is a $499 per employee "starting reference" cited by Gusto, a Rippling competitor, in an August 2026 guide, and Rippling sells EOR on top of its platform fee.
Deel fits a company whose main job is hiring abroad, or paying contractors in many countries, and that wants a posted price. Rippling fits a company that already runs, or wants, Rippling for US payroll, HR and IT and would add overseas staff to the same system. On our published scores, Deel (54/100) ranks above Rippling EOR (18/100).

People search "Deel vs Rippling" for two different reasons. Some want an employer of record to hire one or more people abroad without opening an entity. Others run a US team and are choosing a platform for payroll, PEO and the occasional overseas hire. This page covers both. For the full vendor detail, see our Deel review, Rippling EOR review and Rippling pricing guide.
Side-by-side: EOR, contractors, US payroll and terms
Deel figures are from deel.com, checked October 16, 2026. Rippling publishes no prices for these products, so the Rippling column uses the third-party references Gusto published in August 2026 and labels them. Gusto competes with Rippling, so treat those figures as a starting point for a quote. Scores follow our scoring method.

Cost for 5, 10 and 25 employees
Hiring abroad through an EOR
| Team abroad | Deel EOR (published) | Rippling EOR (third-party reference) |
|---|---|---|
| 5 employees | 5 x $599 = $2,995 | 5 x $499 = about $2,495 + platform fees |
| 10 employees | 10 x $599 = $5,990 | 10 x $499 = about $4,990 + platform fees |
| 25 employees | 25 x $599 = $14,975 | 25 x $499 = about $12,475 + platform fees |
Sources: deel.com/pricing, checked Oct 16, 2026; Rippling reference from Gusto (Aug 2, 2026). Fees only: salary, employer contributions, benefits, deposits and FX are extra.
The service fee is the smaller part of the bill. You also pay each worker's salary, the employer contributions required in their country, any mandatory bonuses, and usually a deposit. Our employer cost by country index and international employee cost calculator add those for one hire, and EOR pricing compared compares Deel's rate with other EOR providers. On the Rippling side, the $499 reference excludes the Rippling platform base fee and any HR or IT modules, which Rippling does not price publicly.
Running a US team
| US team | Deel US PEO (published) | Rippling (rough floor from partial figures) |
|---|---|---|
| 5 employees | 5 x $125 = $625 | $35 + (5 x $8) = about $75 |
| 10 employees | 10 x $125 = $1,250 | $35 + (10 x $8) = about $115 |
| 25 employees | 25 x $125 = $3,125 | $35 + (25 x $8) = about $235 |
Sources: deel.com/pricing (US PEO $125 per employee), checked Oct 16, 2026; Rippling $8 floor from its pricing FAQ, which does not name a product, and a $35 base that Forbes Advisor (Jan 2026) reported from a quote, cited by Gusto, a competitor (Aug 2, 2026). Our arithmetic, not a Rippling price, and not like for like.
These two columns buy different things. A PEO co-employs your staff and gives access to its benefits plans, so the $125 is closer to Rippling PEO, which is quote only, than to Rippling payroll. Deel's pricing page does not say whether health premiums or workers' comp sit inside the $125; ask before you compare. For PEO price ranges, see what a PEO costs per employee and the best PEOs ranked.
Deel PEO promo math: Deel credits three months of platform fees on PEO order forms signed July 15 to December 31, 2026 with a minimum two-year term. For 10 employees that credit is 3 x $1,250 = $3,750. But if you end early you owe the full list price for the whole order form: on a two-year term at today's headcount that is 24 x $1,250 = $30,000 in total, credited months included. Deel's FAQ also says "no long-term commitments required," which conflicts with those order form terms. Get the term in writing.
Paying contractors
For 10 overseas contractors, Deel costs 10 x $49 = $490 a month (published). The Rippling reference of $30 gives 10 x $30 = about $300 a month, before platform fees. See contractor payment platforms compared.
Choose Deel if
- Hiring abroad is the main job and you want a published EOR price before any sales call.
- You pay many contractors in different countries, or want Deel to take on classification risk through Contractor of Record at $325 a month.
- You want a US PEO with a posted per-employee price, and you are comfortable with the two-year term if you take the promotion.
- You do not need IT, device or app management in the same system.
Deel
EOR $599 per employee per month, contractors $49, US PEO $125 per employee (checked Oct 16, 2026).

Choose Rippling if
- You already use Rippling for US payroll, HR or IT, or plan to, and want overseas staff in the same records.
- You want global payroll on your own entities in more countries; Rippling claims 185+.
- You will negotiate. With a $499 third-party reference against Deel's $599, a Rippling quote may come in lower per head, but platform and module fees can close the gap.
- You want plain US payroll rather than a PEO. Rippling's FAQ says plans start at $8 per employee per month plus a base fee it does not state.
Rippling EOR
Quote only. Third-party reference: from $499 per employee per month (Gusto guide, Aug 2026), plus Rippling platform fees.

Switching between Deel and Rippling
Contractors move easily: you start paying them from the new platform and end the old contract. EOR employees and PEO staff do not.
- EOR employees. The EOR is the legal employer, so moving a worker from Deel to Rippling, or back, means the worker signs a new employment contract with the new provider's entity in that country. Ask both providers how accrued leave, tenure, notice periods and benefits carry over before anyone signs, and whether the old provider treats the move as a termination.
- Deposits. Deel does not publish a deposit policy. A 2021 Deel blog post says termination deposit refunds are processed as credit notes, and one secondary source puts refunds at about 30 days after offboarding. Rippling publishes nothing. If you leave, the deposit may come back as credit rather than cash, so ask how it is paid out when the account closes.
- US PEO. Leaving a PEO moves your staff off its health plan and 401(k), so time it with your benefits renewal. Under IRC 3511(b), Social Security and FUTA wage bases do not restart when you join or leave a certified PEO mid-year; with a PEO that is not certified, ask how wage bases are handled. We did not confirm Deel's CPEO status, and Rippling PEO was not found under the Rippling name on the IRS CPEO list (report date August 7, 2026).
- US payroll mid-year. Load year-to-date totals so Social Security stops at the 2026 wage base of $184,500, and agree in writing who files the Q4 2026 Form 941 and the 2026 W-2s, both due February 1, 2027.
Documented complaints
Deel
- Payroll errors: a missed raise (Trustpilot, October 14, 2026), an employer who must reject the payroll "at least once every time" (October 13, 2026), and a missed Japan resident tax deduction (September 26, 2026).
- An AI bot between users and human support (October 14 and 15, 2026).
- A signed contract changed afterwards (September 30, 2026).
- Fees too high for small or low-paid contractors: one contractor said transfers cost "almost 100$ each month" (Hacker News), and another noted the $49 minimum exceeds what some freelancers earn (Hacker News).
- Severance required up front in escrow for a Mexico hire (Hacker News, January 2023).
Source for dated reviews: Deel on Trustpilot, 4.6 from 9,652 reviews (91% five-star, 5% one-star); G2 4.7 from 7,180 (seen October 16, 2026).
Rippling
- Modular pricing that is hard to budget and climbs with headcount (Capterra, September 2025 to August 2026).
- Slow support on complex issues; only administrators can reach live support.
- Setup gaps such as state registrations left to the client (May 11, 2026).

Other EOR and payroll comparisons
Deel's closest EOR rivals are covered in Deel vs Remote and Deel vs Oyster. For the whole field ranked by score, see the best employer of record services. If you are deciding between an EOR and your own payroll abroad, read EOR vs global payroll; for US payroll, Gusto vs Rippling and Rippling vs ADP compare Rippling with payroll-first options, and our payroll rankings list them all.
Bottom line: Deel is the one you can price today: $599 per EOR employee, $49 per contractor and $125 per US PEO employee, with a two-year catch on the PEO promo. Rippling may quote lower per EOR head, by the $499 third-party reference, but adds platform fees and publishes no deposit, FX or contract terms, so it makes most sense if you already run Rippling. On our published scores, Deel (54/100) ranks above Rippling EOR (18/100).
